Senior Accountant

The Role

This role combines fund accounting, partnership tax, and small business operations.

As Senior Accountant you will be:

  • The point person for coordinating and reviewing our annual tax filings
  • The first point of contact for accounting questions from operating companies
  • A key contributor to our treasury management process including our resident expert that troubleshoots banking issues and account permissioning.
  • A key contributor to our annual audits and financial reviews
  • A key contributor to updating our fund reporting metrics

What Makes This Role Different

This isn't your typical Senior Accountant position. You'll be:

  • Supporting finance team operations internally and across the Saturn Five portfolio
  • Assisting with implementing long-term, scalable systems that support our orientation towards sustainable growth, and long-term ownership rather than optimizing for exits
  • Guiding the firm to maximize quarterly distributions to investors and helping employees flourish
  • Assisting in investor tax reporting and audit support

This position requires someone who can operate at a high level, but is humble, hungry and scrappy enough to dig into transactional-level detail at our portfolio companies on a regular basis. You'll work closely with Saturn Five’s CFO, Group Controller, and with the finance leads at the different operating companies. As Senior Accountant, you'll assist in the preparation and review of quarterly fund-level financials, capital account statements, investor reporting, and PBCs for our audit and tax partners. In addition, you’ll assist with fund waterfalls, NAV calculations, and other performance metrics. You’ll be part of a team-first growing finance organization and need to have the ability to context switch and have comfort working across a range of different situations.

    • Assist with annual reviews/audits for our funds and operating companies
    • Help integrate new acquisitions and improve financial systems across the portfolio
    • Research appropriate accounting and tax standards as well as documenting and communicating conclusions.
    • Assistance with treasury operations
    • Provide financial support to Overmatch, a Saturn-Five-affiliated venture capital group
  3. Operational Finance and System Design
    1. Train and support operating company accounting and bookkeeping staff
